We’re approximately two months from the opening day of the 2013 HRWG Annual Meeting in Brunswick, Georgia. If you are planning on attending, it is time to reserve your room at the Embassy Suites Hotel Brunswick if you haven’t done so. The remaining rooms in our reserved block are scheduled to be returned to the hotel’s general inventory on May 6th, one month before the first day of the annual meeting. Although it may be possible to hold some rooms for a longer period of time, this is not guaranteed. From my experience, a hotel’s decision to grant or deny this type of request is affected by their existing bookings for the requested dates, and June is the beginning of the tourist season for the Golden Isles that are near Brunswick. As of this morning, there are a few suites with two beds still available in our block. All two bed suites in the Embassy Suites are already part of our block, so when these are gone, only one bed suites will be available.
Below, Chris Rasche and John Jarvis as Co-Chairs of the Local Arrangements Committee, have compiled information on the Brunswick area, transportation to and from the Jacksonville airport, local restaurants, and so on this week. Additional information on the itinerary for Friday, June 7th, the day that we will be at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center will be available in mid-April.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Jay Corzine, HRWG presidentHello HRWG colleagues,
To whet your appetites for the upcoming conference this June in Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia, in a Word document below is local information which you may find of interest, including travel recommendations. We hope you will find this of assistance in making your plans for attending the conference--and perhaps for having a side vacation as well!
As the message from President Jay Corzine has noted, time is running out for making hotel arrangements at the block group rate. Making airline reservations now is also recommended, as summer travel rates will kick in soon if they have not already. The Golden Isles of Georgia and the First Coast of Florida are popular vacation destinations in the summer (think surf, sand and seafood).
If you have any local arrangements questions which are not addressed in the information below, please feel free to contact Chris Rasche at crasche@unf.edu. Questions about the conference program or agenda should be addressed to Program Chair Greg Weaver at weavergs@auburn.edu.
See you in June!
Chris Rasche and John Jarvis, Local Arrangements Co-Chairs
