2009-20010 Membership Period and Benefits

HRWG Membership runs from April 1 - March 31. Members in 2009-2010 will receive: 1) the Aug 2009, Nov 2009, Feb 2010, and May 2010 issues of Homicide Studies; 2) all newsletters; 3) access to the HRWG Listserv; and 4) a copy of the Proceedings from the 2009 Annual Meeting.

Members are eligible to attend/participate in the 2009 Annual Meeting of HRWG, which will be held at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst from Wednesday, June 17 through noon Saturday, June 20, 2009. Current members need to renew their membership by April 1, 2009, in order to receive the August 2009 issue of Homicide Studies.

General HRWG Member Benefits

An individual membership entitles a person to:

  • develop a working relationship and be involved in a network of other homicide researchers
  • attend the three- to four-day annual meeting
  • participate in the HRWG session at professional meetings such as the American Society of Criminology, Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and others
  • a one-year subscription to Homicide Studies
  • access to the HRWG listserv
  • receive our newsletter

A Couples membership is available for spouses and intimate partners. It is not intended for persons whose relationship is best described as colleagues/coworkers in the same department or institution. Although each couple will receive only one copy of each mailing that is normally sent to individual members, a Couples membership entitles both persons to:

  1. an entry in the Membership Directory,
  2. vote on HRWG issues and in elections,
  3. serve as an HRWG committee member or officer,
  4. attend and participate in the HRWG Annual Meeting, and
  5. subscribe to the HRWG listserv

An Agency membership is available for persons employed at public or private organizations (e.g., private research facilities, government organizations) involved in or interested in homicide research, but does not include colleges, universities, and institutions of higher learning. An Agency membership provides for two copies of all HRWG mailings.

For all interested employees, the benefits of an agency membership would include:

  1. an entry in the Membership Directory
  2. ability to attend and/or participate in the Annual Meeting
  3. access to the HRWG listserv
  4. vote, hold office, and/or serve on HRWG committees under the same provisions as individual members; however, no more than two employees from the same agency are eligible to vote, hold office, or serve on committees during the same terms

Member Dues

For individual and couples memberships, HRWG has implemented a tiered dues structure based on gross annual income.

Individual memberships:
$40 if income is less than $25,000/year
$60 if income is $25,000 - $75,000
$70 if income is over $75,000

Couples memberships:
Additional $20 - using the higher paid partner's income. Select a base fee from the individual membership categories and then add $20.

Agency membership: $110
